At some point in our lives, we will be put in a situation where we know no one meaning that if we want to socialize, we will have to choose a group or a certain person to introduce ourselves to, you are most likely to choose someone that seems welcoming. How others decide to present themselves through fashion may be one of the reasons that you decide to approach them or not as there are known stereotypes with people that dress in certain ways; the idea that a chav wears a tracksuit. Depending on an individual’s social identity the groups which they feel comfortable in will vary.

Through studio portraits, I am looking at how young women decide to present themselves in a variety of situations that can affect how they are perceived by others by looking into the connection of a person’s identity and fashion choices.
