This collection explores the current state of ports in the UK, from the day travelers ferry to mass imports of cargo. Looking at this from both an environmental and social point has been challenging, especially with the threat Brexit looming over the first half of the project and eventually happening. My stylistic approach has been to document the landscape from the diesel in the water to the smog in the sky. Pollution has played a bigger part in all this than I ever thought it would have when I started this out. It has made me consider the planet in ways I never had before.

A Flemish fisherman once said “A ship drinks even more than a fisherman” referring to the diesel engines. This dying industry is under threat due to the new worlds increasing commercialism and consumption. The use of irregular textural imagery and conventional landscape pushes the notion of contrast in this collection.
