Intermediate: being or occurring at the middle place or stage. This body of work is about a middle place, an in-between stage. A still moment caught on camera demonstrating the intimacy between friends.

Although some of these friends were together when taking these photographs, the subjects are isolated within the frame. It is about the relationship between the photographer and the subject. 

Working closely with the people around me, I captured intimate moments. The individual portraits are the subjects presented as themselves. The intimate close-ups show what makes them ‘essentially human’ from the way they move their hands to the way they sit.

My aim is to convey a group of young people in informal environments, as though the viewers are there in the moment with them. Intermediate is about growing up and individuals being themselves and vulnerable in front of a camera.
