Achievements
Inspired by the concept of a connection between oneself and the domestic space, ‘Motionless Childhood’ is a depiction of the chaos and bazarness of a childlike reaction of that space. Using performative techniques, this selection of images brings to life a depiction of domestic space through unusual and obscure staging. These selection of images represent how important the connection is between a person and their personal space. The intimate setting paired with the private and shrouded performance makes these images, as it is as though you are watching an intimate moment of connection between these two things.
Whilst this body of work revolves solely around myself and my own personal connection, I feel that I shot these images in such a way that the viewer was invited to put themselves where I am and feel the attachment between the person and the place. I wanted to leave the images very open, capturing a very performative scene as if played out by a child. I feel that the unknown as to what is happening within the images needed to be represented and displayed for the viewer to discover themselves how impactful the domestic space becomes to someone over time.
